December 2009 – Employee of the Year 2009
It was a pleasure to be able to present the 2009 Employee of the Year award to a 3 year serving member, Mr Gary Harrison, who has been working with the Transport and Warehouse team since 2006. Other final nominees were Keith Walford, Tom Dawson and, for a second time, Peter Fairbrother. All of which were praised for their diligence, care and the enthusiasm they bring to the workplace. Congratulations to Gary, who has chosen a rally driving experience as his prize.

November 2009 – Far East Import Improving
Stock replenishment has caused a sudden boom in Air and Ocean cargo movements from Hong Kong & China. Before and after Christmas, momentum has been continuing to build, encompassing the year-end seasonal upturn, which hopefully is another sign of global market recovery. Our Hong Kong Branch Manager, Eugene Chiu, currently celebrating the branch’s 3 year anniversary, is full of optimism for 2010, commenting “It seems now the market is showing real signs of recovery. As we move towards the Chinese New Year we are more excited than ever at the prospect of handling increasing amounts of product by all modes of transport to and from Hong Kong and China. We are ready!”.

Chinese New Year is celebrated from 13th February to 16th February 2010 – Year of the Tiger.

February 2009 – 4-5-1, 4-4-2 or 4-3-3.
Whichever way you play; would you like to give us a game? ConneXion’s Staff Football Team christened their new Blue, White and Red kit recently with a resounding victory for the opposition. But it is the taking part that counts. 13-8, 17-9, whatever the score was, its only numbers and the game was enjoyed by all. With Keith Charlton and Tom Dawson solid at the back supporting Jamie Munday in goal, and a Lovett / Walden combination thrusting forward from the midfield providing the through balls for striker Paul Dobbs, it is difficult to imagine how we lost. But we did! And surprisingly we blame the ‘Credit Crunch’. So if you have a not so competitive staff team and want to give us a friendly game please give Adam Lovett a call on 01784 263000. And bring a calculator.

December 2008 – Fuel Surcharges Continue to Drop
Reductions in our everyday costs are always welcome and it is noticeable at the pumps right now. At time of press, airlines are further reducing their fuel surcharge following another decline in the price of oil. As normal, when making an airfreight booking with our operations team we can advise you the current fuel surcharge. Likewise the ocean equivalent - BAF- (bunker adjustment factor) has reduced in December to varying levels, liner by liner. For your information we are pleased to confirm our domestic haulage fuel surcharge is decreasing by 1.5% on the 8th of December.
