CDS Phasing In
This includes the declaration of goods entering and leaving the UK/EU via ports and airports and for the calculation and payment of the correct duty and taxes. Therefore this is just a further reminder that ConneXion are working closely together with our industry body BIFA (British International Freight Association), our software provider and HMRC to ensure we are in the best position to manage this change. Current timelines remain flexible although it is anticipated we will be able to declare all importers goods on the CDS system by the turn of the year, with export declarations to follow.
The replacement to CHIEF with CDS will offer importers and exporters some differences and improvements required to meet the Union Customs Code (UCC). From your perspective as an importer or exporter, although you do not currently need to make any immediate changes to the way you currently interact with us on declarations, there will be more detailed information required from you to enable us to process declarations through CDS. We will be contacting all our clients individually with those requirements over the coming months for the information that we will need from you. As we are in the midst of securing our AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) status we will also require written consent to act as your 'Direct Representative', if this is not already in place.
